What is the latest thing coming in soon?

The outdated analogue public switched telephone network (PSTN) is being replaced with a fully digital network for all of our customers. Sparta Telecom has already gotten going. We anticipate to have completed the transition before Openreach discontinues PSTN (as well as ISDN) service in 2025. By that time, all phone lines in the UK will be digital, using IP (Internet Protocol) to route calls instead of the PSTN.

If you’re still on analogue for phone and or broadband you need to change to fibre now or risk having none by 2025. No one wants to be without their phone or broadband, but you could especially if you leave it too late, there is no guarantee that an engineer will be available if you wait until 2025, so you need to change now or 2024 at the latest.

Defining 'Everyone'

By everyone, we mean, "Office and Home". You also need to consider other things besides your phone services. All other services that are currently linked to PSTN or ISDN lines that do not include voice calls are included in this category. Items such as door entry systems, CCTV, fax machines, EPOS devices, and alarms.

Is IP better than PSTN? What do you think?

Yes, the PSTN network, truly a technology from the 20th century, is becoming more and more out of step with the needs of contemporary communications. Everyone has higher expectations now that they are using mobile and internet communications than the old technologies were built to meet. that's the reason we're moving to IP. It's time to move past PSTN and take advantage of the countless opportunities presented by digital.

Are the rest of the world adapting to the change?

Everywhere, the transition to digital is occurring quickly. Phone providers worldwide are switching from analogue to digital as a result of shifts in consumer behaviour and technology. Sparta Telecom is not the first to make the change—Germany, Japan, and Sweden are. Having previously turned off their PSTN networks, Estonia and the Netherlands are there.

What will be the scenario by 2025?

Everything you connect to your phone lines, including alarms and door entry systems, needs to be checked. A lot of companies have already adopted an all-digital strategy, transferring their correspondence to the cloud, using video conferencing, and placing phone calls online.
Basically, Alarm systems, CCTV, broadband, your phone in fact anything on analogue will cease to work anymore, it will only work if your connected to fibre. You won’t even be able to call 999 or 111 unless you’re on fibre.
